MEMORY CORTEX UNINSTALLER 0.1.1 — UNIVERSAL MAC Use Uninstall Memory Cortex.app to remove the Server, Client, or both from this Mac. It runs on Apple Silicon and Intel Macs with macOS 14 or later. It does not need Python or a package manager. OPEN THE UNINSTALLER - Open the standalone app from this ZIP, or click Uninstall… in the updated server control window or client setup window. - The updated server DMG and client ZIP also include a standalone copy. - Choose App… if an installed app is outside Applications. Select the installed copy, not the copy on a read-only DMG. - For a custom server data location, launch Uninstall… from that server's own control window so the correct location is supplied. DEFAULT: KEEP YOUR DATA Keep server data and Keep saved connection profiles and Keychain keys are checked by default. Apps, bundled services/runtimes, client helpers, Cortex agent entries and app window preferences are removed, while selected saved data stays in Application Support. Select Server, Client, or both, inspect the displayed paths, and click Uninstall…. A separate confirmation lists the action before anything is removed. Cancel leaves the apps and data unchanged. REMOVE SAVED DATA OR KEYS Uncheck the relevant Keep option before confirming. App bundles and data folders move to Trash so they can be recovered. Cortex keys removed from Keychain cannot be recovered by restoring files from Trash. Server removal stops Cortex's own services and revokes its managed client SSH keys. Other SSH keys are preserved. Keeping server data does not preserve those clients' access: issue fresh client downloads after reinstalling that server. Client removal removes the native client's Cortex entries from ChatGPT Desktop/Codex, Claude Desktop, Claude Code and Hermes settings, keeping backups and other settings. Restart agents afterward to discard cached MCP settings. Independently installed integrations and connections manually added to other applications are left alone. If client keys are removed, the uninstaller first tries to revoke access on each server. This needs the installed helper from client 0.1.2+, server 0.2.2+, and a reachable SSH server. Unsupported or unavailable remote revocations are reported; finish them in that server's Clients panel. Local cleanup can still complete. WHAT STAYS External backups, downloaded installers/connection ZIPs, other applications, macOS user accounts and macOS Remote Login are not removed or changed. Only the selected app copies are removed; run again to select an additional copy if needed. IF CLEANUP NEEDS ATTENTION - A server that has not finished stopping is left intact; no database is force-killed. Wait, then retry. - Unlock the login Keychain if saved keys could not be removed. - Malformed or unfamiliar agent settings are preserved for manual review rather than overwritten. - If macOS refuses permission to move an installed app, finish removing that app in Finder with an authorized account. This preview is Developer ID signed and notarized by Apple, with a stapled ticket. Intel binaries are included; Intel hardware execution remains untested.
